VooServers is pleased to announce the successful accreditation of the company to ISO 27001.
Conducted by SNR certification, the audit was held in two stages. VooServers completed the first stage of the audit on 29th November 2016 and the second stage on 21st February 2017.
This is a significant achievement for VooServers, particularly given that it is a relatively small company to complete the ISO 27001 certification. In addition, VooServers achieved this in-house within just six months of applying.
ISO 27001 is a widely accepted industry/sector certification providing requirements for information security management systems (ISMS). This covers a wide range of policies and procedures that includes all legal and technical controls involved in an organisations information management processes. In the ISO 27001 Global Report, it quotes: ‘98% of respondents say that the most important benefit of ISO 27001 was improved information security, while 11% said it improved company reputation, and 8% said it improved competitiveness.’
The accreditation recognises VooServers’ understanding around information security. It is also confirms VooServers has the relevant policies and controls in place to protect its customers. At the same time, the accreditation is about much more than just a paper trail; it is about continual improvement. For example, improving information security and consistently driving that security forward as trends change, will ensure VooServers continue to perform better year on year.
The accreditation is a globally recognised information security accreditation, which means absolute consistency across all VooServers’ different locations, including Frankfurt, LA and New York.
Matt Parkinson, founder and director of VooServers, comments: “We are extremely proud to be recognised with the ISO 27001 accreditation. Having completed the accreditation independently, I think we benefited from getting a really good understanding of the standards in the process. This will help in the continual improvement model going forwards.
“Prior to the implementation of the ISO 27001 standards, we already had a good ethos of information security within the company, and were already implementing a fair number of the controls. ISO 27001 has helped us to formalise those processes and ensure they can be continually audited and reviewed.”
ISO 27001 is the first significant accreditation that VooServers has completed. The company also has plans in the pipeline to complete the ISO 9001 accreditation. This will provide the quality systems that will provide the foundation to better customer satisfaction, staff motivation and continual improvement.
SNR concluded: “In conclusion VooServers have planned and implemented an effective ISMS and through ongoing continuous improvement they are tracking improvements (via their own CRM) to ensure a robust ISMS is in place. Their receptive commitment to continually improve was obvious throughout this audit.”
