As part of our growth plans VooServers has now launched our first US point of presence in New York City. Located in the heart of the financial district just a few minutes from Wall Street this new point of presence is a prime location for a number of our UK customers who trade with the US as well as clients located in the US themselves.
New York was seen as a vital part of our expansion plan due to the connectivity available, transport links and number of facilities within close vicinity for enabling disaster recovery and fail-over options either in New York or New Jersey. As part of our expansion we’re also excited to be working with a new data centre partner in the US who has been fundamental in helping us achieve our initial goals gearing up for the launch.
As part of the initial deployment we have rolled out a private cloud consisting of 44TB of storage, 656GB of RAM, 184 processing cores and 92Gbit of internal network connectivity. Early in 2014 we will also be connecting the New York POP back to our UK and Frankfurt sites via a point to point connection allowing us to offer cross data centre failover services and geographical load balancing.
Speaking about the expansion our technical director Matt Parkinson said “We’re very excited to be launching this new point of presence. It’s a remarkable milestone for us to launch a presence on a different continent and we look forward to the new services that we will also now be able to launch in the coming months. It’s been a busy and stressful launch but with very few holdups for which we owe thanks to our engineers and partners who have made things run smoothly.”
