New Server Based Processor Updates

News & Technical Blog

VooServers is excited to inform you that Intel has released their planned processor updates for both E3 and E5 CPU families, known as New 6th Generation Core. The new processors include improvements across the board and most notably developments in efficient system performance and stability. Our customers will benefit from our ability to access information in a timelier manner and thus respond to queries and resolve issues more swiftly than previously possible. As ever the Intel E3-1200 series comes with proven reliability and can suit a wide breath of your particular business needs.

The E3-1200 v5 series will showcase vastly improved CPU/ GPU speeds compared to the v2/v3 generation CPU, and memory support has been increased to 64GB (DDR4 RAM) which is an increase over the previous generations 32GB capacity. Additionally, high speed ports and more flexible input/output options will be available for those with bespoke networking requirements. These additional ports give improved input/ output performance, increasing reliability of our systems. The capacity increases are outlined below:

  • 18-26 HSIO (High speed input/ output) ports
  • Up to 8 PCIe 2.0 ports and 20 PCIe 3.0 ports
  • 6-10 USB 3.0 ports

The E5-2600 series v4 processors will also improve considerably upon their v3 counterparts using Broadwell architecture. These improvements include increase cores (up to 22 as opposed to 36), increased threads (up to 44 compared to 36) and a 5-10% overall performance increase. The E5-2600 v5 New Generation Core iterations are due for a 2017 release as New 6th Generation Core technology and more information will be given as the specifications come to light.

The improved performance of both the E3-1200 v5 and E5-2600 v4 series has been summarised below:

Intel Xeon E3-1200 v5 CPU
Up to 1.43x performance increase compared to v3

DDR4 memory, 1.2V up to 2133mhz compared to DDR3 (Up to 64GB with 8GB density)

Increased frequency

Increased power efficiency

Based on a brand new architecture

The E3-1200 v5 series will make use of the new E3-1200v5 Intel Silverpass Motherboard technology.

Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 CPU
Up to 22 cores per CPU

Increased power efficiency

Increased frequency

Architecture remains the same as v3

VooServers will be offering the respective Intel v4 and v5 solutions to keep ahead of the curve and on the cutting edge of technology. As always the dedicated servers provided will have many upgrade and customisation offers to suit your particular needs, as well as our ever efficient and focused service that has come to be expected from our customers as standard.
